8/29/18 Florida Supreme Court Oral Arguments: Rolando P. Ruiz, etc. v. Tenet Hialeah Healthsystem, Inc., et al., SC17-1562
Mr. Ruiz sued Tenet Hialeah Healthsystem, Inc. to recover damages for the death of his wife, Maria Espinosa, who died during surgery. Mr. Ruiz claimed the negligence of several doctors, including anesthesiologist Dr. Arturo Lorenzo, directly caused her death. The trial court ruled in favor of Tenet Hialeah Healthsystem and Dr. Arturo Lorenzo, finding no causation. On appeal, the Third District Court of Appeal agreed with the trial court. Mr. Ruiz asked this Court to review the case because the Third District decision conflicts with decisions of this Court and other appellate courts.
