In this proposed change to the rules regulating attorney conduct, new language would address the representation of clients in personal injury or wrongful death cases after the primary case is resolved and any issue has arisen having to do with settling liens associated with the primary case. The new language would require lawyers who represent clients on a contingency basis in the primary case to continue representing them without additional fee unless the issues involved are extraordinarily complex because of regulations governing federal programs like Medicare or for other reasons.
