08/08/2008 Florida Crossroads – When Babies Die

Florida has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the country. While the problem is not new, an increase in the number of babies dying across the state is causing national, state and community leaders to renew efforts to prevent infants from being buried before they are able to crawl. Unfortunately, identifying a cause or causes that can be easily fixed has not been simple, especially when the communities most affected don’t realize that one baby’s death impacts more than just the parents.
