John Stetson, maker of the famous Stetson brand cowboy hats and his wife Elizabeth, used this intricately designed Victorian style mansion home as a winter refuge where he, along with city and university founder Henry Deland, built a community around learning. The Stetson Mansion became the most intricately designed Victorian Style Mansion before 1900.
