Historical Marker – Historic Banyan Trees
Two Banyan trees form the entrance to the City of Palm Beach Gardens. The city was developed by insurance magnate and philanthropist, John D. MacArthur. In 1960, he paid to move a 75-ton Banyan tree to the entrance showcase the new community. A second 40-ton tree was moved a year later to keep the first tree company. They can be seen today at the intersection of Northlake Boulevard and MacArthur Boulevard.
