02/23/2009 Florida Crossroads – Historic Places: The Florida Black Heritage Trail

In 1990, the Florida Legislature created a study commission on African-American history with a mission to increase public awareness about the contributions of African-Americans to the state. That commission created a publication called “The Florida Black Heritage Trail” in hopes of guiding both Floridians and visitors to historical sites rich in African-American history. Florida Crossroads travels to Jacksonville and takes a look at three of those sites.
