Florida is one of few states with two Capitol buildings – a “new” Capitol built in the 70’s to accommodate Florida’s booming population and the Historic Capitol which has served as the front steps of state government for more than a century. In this first of a two-part series, Florida Crossroads explores the extensive history of Florida’s Historic Capitol along with its various locations, design and function.
