Florida Portrait on Bagdad Village Museum

The Bagdad Village Museum was originally built in 1874 as the New Providence Missionary Baptist Church. The building is made of heart pine and is believed to be the oldest African American church in Santa Rosa County. In 1987, it was donated to the Bagdad Village Preservation Association. It now serves as a museum exhibiting artifacts and pictures that tell the story of Bagdad’s lumber industry and maritime history.
