Florida’s Capitol buildings have long played an important role in the landscape of Tallahassee and the governance of the state. From the first rudimentary buildings to the elaborate state-of-the-art tower where lawmakers meet today, visitors to the Florida Historic Capitol Museum can now experience the story of Florida’s Capitol buildings through unique objects and images preserved from the historic Capitol over the centuries. Many artifacts are on display for the first time ever following an extensive mitigation project that concluded in 2024. Through these artifacts, visitors discover the story of Tallahassee becoming and remaining the capital city.
