During their 26-year collaboration, Yvonne and Curtis Tucker researched the techniques of the great ceramic artists from various cultures and opened new possibilities for future generations of artists. Combining Eastern and African traditional methods with contemporary techniques and African-American sensibilities, they developed a new art form: Afro-Raku. Their research in the field of ceramics and their knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of clay enabled them to break new ground within the fields of ceramics and African-American arts/crafts.
