Capitol Update – Week Ending 05/01/2026

Capitol Update is a review of state government. Topics this week focus on:

• Lawmakers passed a new congressional map drawn by the Governor’s Office during a two-day special session. 
• The House and Senate refused to take up a bill that would have allowed for parents to opt-out of the state’s childhood vaccine schedule.  
• The Senate passed a bill that would have placed new guardrails around artificial intelligence.
