Capitol Update – Week Ending 02/06/2026

Capitol Update is a review of state government.  Topics this week focus on:

• Senate President Ben Albritton unveiled a new statue of George Washington at Florida’s Historic Capitol Museum.
• Senate Budget Chair Ed Hooper announced that his chamber’s budget proposal would be postponed to next week. 
• The full House passed a joint resolution that would let Floridians to vote on a constitutional amendment to allow students to engage in religious prayer during the school day.
