Capitol Update – Week Ending 12/19/2025

Capitol Update is a review of state government.  Topics this week include:       

• Florida’s Insurance Commissioner told the Governor and Cabinet why he believes property and auto insurance rates will fall in 2026.
• In one of the final delegation meetings before session, constituents in Miami-Dade expressed concern about the impact of property tax cuts on the ability of local governments to provide essential services.
• Lawmakers and law enforcement talk about new laws designed to protect people from holiday scams, including crackdowns on porch pirates and gift card fraud.
