Capitol Update – Week Ending 10/10/2025

Capitol Update is a review of state government.  Topics this week include:

• CFO Blaise Ingoglia criticized the Seminole County Commission for raising the millage rate, but commissioners said unfunded mandates by the state are driving some of their budget demands. 
• Florida House Republicans officially designated Clay County Rep. Sam Garrison to serve as House Speaker starting with the 2027 session if Republicans maintain the majority.
• House and Senate committees looked into issues including AI use by insurance companies, tiny homes and a lawsuit keeping more kids from getting KidCare health coverage.
