Capitol Update – Week Ending 08/08/2025

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government.  This week’s topics include:

• Florida Gaming Commission law enforcement said they shut down eight illegal casinos in July, including “Il Villagio” in the Villages. 
• House Speaker Daniel Perez announced formation of a Select Committee on Redistricting to consider changing Florida’s Congressional districts.
• A judge ordered a two-week pause on new construction or expansion of Alligator Alcatraz as part of a lawsuit by environmental groups over the impact of the detention facility on the Everglades.
