Capitol Update – Week Ending 06/20/2025

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government.  This week’s topics include:   

• The Board of Governors approved Marva Johnson as president of FAMU, Jeanette Nunez as president of FIU and Manny Diaz as interim president of UWF.
• The House and Senate adjourned “sine die” after a session that was extended to approve a state budget.
• The $115.1 billion budget includes $1.3 billion in tax cuts, including elimination of the state tax on commercial rents.
