Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government.  This week’s topics include:   

  • In answer to the call by the Senate President Ben Albritton for a “rural renaissance,” Senator Corey Simon filed a 129-page bill designed to improve the quality of life in small communities.
  • The Governor and Cabinet met for the first time as the new State Immigration Enforcement Board, and appointed an executive director of immigration enforcement.
  • The Board of Governors approved former Lt. Governor Jeanette Nunez as Interim President of FIU, and approved former State Rep. Adam Hasner as President of FAU.
