Capitol Update – Week Ending 01/17/2025

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government.  This week’s topics include:   

• House and Senate committees took on property insurance, condo reform and illegal gambling..
• Governor Ron DeSantis called a special session of the legislature with an agenda topped by illegal immigration.
• The Governor appointed Attorney General Ashley Moody to take U.S. Senator Marco Rubio’s seat if, as expected, Rubio becomes Secretary of State.
