Capitol Update – Week Ending 11/10/2023

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government. This week’s topics include: 

• In a special session the Legislature approved resolutions supporting Israel, a bill to beef up security against hate crimes, and an expansion of the ban on state investments in companies that do business with the government of Iran.
• Lawmakers also passed a bill to increase funding for Hurricane Idalia recovery and another that lifts the cap on the number of special needs students who can get private school vouchers.
• The Florida Supreme Court questioned the state’s challenge to the proposed constitutional amendment that would legalize recreational marijuana.
