Capitol Update – Week Ending 07/22/2022

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government.  Topics this week include:   

• The penalty trial began for the gunman who killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018.
• The Florida Commission on Ethics found probable cause that former Senate Budget Chairman Jack Latvala abused his power in order to get sexual favors.
• The leading Democratic candidates for Governor – Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried and Congressman Charlie Crist – faced off in a debate.
