Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government. Topics this week include:   

• A federal judge ruled the definition of a “riot” in a new state law is too vague and unconstitutional.
• The First District Court of Appeal allows the state’s ban on local school mask mandates to remain in effect while the DeSantis administration appeals the case.
• Governor Ron DeSantis announced new law enforcement officers could eventually receive a $5,000 signing bonus.
