Capitol Update – Week Ending 09/11/2020

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government.  Topics this week include:

• The Florida Supreme Court ruled that Governor DeSantis must appoint another Justice from the list of finalists, since his first choice did not meet Constitutional requirements.
• The Legislative Budget Conference reviewed the pandemic-driven drop in state revenues and options for recovery they can consider in the budget process.
• Governor DeSantis vetoed the vaping bill that would have banned the sale of most flavored nicotine products and raised the legal age to buy tobacco from 18 to 21.
