Capitol Update – Nightly During Session – Monday, February 05, 2024

Capitol Update is a daily review of state government during the Legislative Session. Topics today include:

• A Senate committee took up a bill that would ban sleeping or camping on public property, but allow local governments to set up camps for the homeless with proper sanitation and a ban on drugs and alcohol.
• A House committee amended a State Guard bill to remove a provision that allows the Governor to deploy the Guard outside of Florida, the sponsor saying that’s already allowed in state law.
• Former lawmakers came to the Capitol for the first Legislative Reunion in four years.
