News Brief is a daily review of state government. Topics include:   

• A circuit court judge issued a written ruling in the school mask case, barring the DeSantis administration from banning mask mandates or seeking to punish local school boards that adopt such mandates.
• Republican leaders in the Legislature said they may consider a bill similar to the Texas abortion ban the U.S. Supreme Court let stand, while Democrats in the Legislature called the Texas bill a draconian assault on women’s rights.
• House Speaker Chris Sprowls made some committee leadership changes and promised to release committee assignments Friday.
