8/28/18 Florida Supreme Court Oral Arguments: John William Campbell v. State of Florida & John William Campbell v Julie L. Jones, etc., SC17-1725, SC18-260
Mr. Campbell was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Mr. John Henry Campbell in 2010. The jury voted 8-4 to recommend a death sentence, and the trial court condemned him to death. This Court affirmed his conviction and sentence of death on direct appeal. Mr. Campbell filed postconviction challenges in the trial court, including a claim that he is entitled to be re-sentenced pursuant to this Court’s decision in Hurst v. State. The trial court granted re-sentencing but denied other challenges. This appeal followed.
