8/20/25 Capitol Update Extended – State Performs 10th Execution While Some Call to Exempt Veterans from Death Penalty

The State of Florida carried out its 10th execution this year, more than any other state. Kayle Bates was put to death for the 1982 murder of a Bay County woman despite calls to spare his life and the lives of other death row inmates who served in the military.
