8/12/25 Capitol Update Extended – New Lock and Dam Coming to Lake Apopka

The St. Johns River Water Management District has approved plans to construct a larger lock on Lake Apopka to accommodate the growing number of anglers seeking access to the lake. A commissioner also raised concerns about firefighters in the area not wearing protective masks during a controlled burn.
