6/2/25 Capitol Update Extended – Attorney General Says Prison Inmates are Using Contraband Cellphones to Scam Seniors

Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that searches of inmates at three state prisons yielded at least 40 contraband cellphones. He said “Operation Triple Threat” was conducted because inmates are using cellphones to scam seniors, including one case in which a 92-year-old man lost more than $800,000.
