5/27/25 Capitol Update Extended – UF Board of Trustees Votes to Appoint New President

The University of Florida’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Santa Ono as the university’s fourteenth president. Concerns arose over past comments regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), as well as his work in protecting students on college campuses.
