3/7/24 Florida Supreme Court Oral Arguments: Matthew Lee Caylor v. State of Florida SC2023-0338
Caylor was convicted of first-degree murder for the 2008 killing of 13-year-old Melinda Hinson. The jury voted to recommend death sentences for the murder, and the trial court sentenced him to death. This Court affirmed the sentences on direct appeal. In Caylor’s habeas petition, this Court vacated his death sentences and remanded the case for a new penalty phase proceeding. In February 2023, the trial court sentenced him to death, and this appeal followed.
