12/3/25 Capitol Update Extended – House Committee Votes to Change State Bird

For at least three years, some lawmakers have tried to change the state bird from the mockingbird to either the flamingo or scrub jay. Now, a bill that would make both of those birds official state symbols is advancing in the House, even as some members raised concerns.
