11/24/25 2nd Judicial Circuit Court Hearing: Bear Warriors United, Inc. v. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission & Safari Club International

On August 13th, 2025, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission approved a bear hunt, the first since 2015, to take place from December 6th to December 28th, 2025. Under the plan, hunters who received permits through a lottery-style process are each be able to kill one bear, with a maximum total of 172 bears killed.At this hearing, the group Bear Warriors United seeks a temporary injunction to block the hunt. The Court also considers a motion by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to dismiss the lawsuit. Safari Club International is an intervenor in the case, asserting that regulated hunting is a tool for managing black bears.
