10/24/24 Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Workshop on the Marine Special Activity License Program
The purpose of this workshop is to gather public input on proposed changes to rules governing the Marine Special Activity License (SAL) program (chapter 68B-8, Florida Administrative Code). Proposed changes include updates to eligibility requirements, license periods, and license conditions; updates to the SAL program administration process; streamlining the FWC Law Enforcement notification process; repealing the Dredge SAL; and updating the Aquaculture Broodstock Collection and Stock Collection and Release SALs.
The Marine Special Activity License (SAL) Program issues licenses for activities that require a waiver of marine fisheries regulations. Activities that are licensed include (but are not limited to): scientific research, education, exhibition, aquaculture, the use of non-conforming gear (for research purposes only), the testing of innovative gear, the use of marine chemicals, the release of marine organisms, and the use of dredges for harvesting marine organisms.
