10/22/25 Capitol Update Extended – Hillsborough County Lawmakers Wrestle with Port Taxes, Electing a Superintendent

In Tampa, lawmakers debated local bills that could make the Hillsborough County Superintendent of Schools a partisan elected position. Another bill would eliminate a tax on county residents that goes to Port Tampa Bay.
