Florida’s Constitutional Convention was held in 1838 in one of the territory’s newest boom towns, St. Joseph in the Florida Panhandle. Prized for its deepwater port and resort climate, the old city of St. Joseph was gone by the time Florida was admitted as the 27th state in 1845.
