Capitol Update – Week Ending 10/13/2017

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government.  Topics include:

• Legislators returned to Tallahassee for the first week of committee meetings before session, with several meetings dominated by hurricane issues.
• An emergency rule requiring nursing homes to install backup generators was reviewed by a Senate committee and challenged in administrative law court.
• Lawmakers discussed the enormity of the opioid crisis in Florida and proposals to help prevention and recovery.
