Capitol Update – Week Ending 11/26/2021

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government.  Topics this week include:  

• A federal judge ruled that Florida’s gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe violates federal law with respect to online sports betting.
• The Legislature returns to the Capitol the week after Thanksgiving for the final round of committee meetings before regular session, with a long list of bills and gubernatorial appointments on the agenda.
• The state prison system is facing changes after the Thanksgiving holiday, including a new secretary and a new rule limiting inmates’ mail to electronic scans on tablets and kiosks.
