Capitol Update – Week Ending 09/03/2021

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government. Topics this week include:  

• A judge issued the written ruling that Governor Ron DeSantis and the Department of Education had no authority to ban COVID mask mandates by local school districts.  The DeSantis administration filed an appeal.

• Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried organized a moment of silence at the Capitol Building to honor Floridians killed by the virus.

• Law enforcement and state wildlife officials are on the prowl for people poaching saw palmetto berries.
