Capitol Update – Week Ending 03/27/2020

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government.  Topics this week include:

• Governor Ron DeSantis ordered travel restrictions on people coming to Florida from the New York area and Louisiana – both hotspots for COVID-19.
• February’s 2.8% unemployment rate does not reflect the thousands of people terminated or laid off because of the coronavirus, and now flooding the unemployment assistance system.
• The Florida National Guard is operating Coronavirus drive-through testing centers around the state, with the Governor ordering a new center in Palm Beach County.
