Capitol Update – Week Ending 09/28/2018

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government.  Topics this week include:

• A look at cases pending in the Supreme Court over whether Governor Rick Scott can appoint 3 new Justices on Inauguration Day, or a lower court judge during an election year.
• State agencies met with citrus growers to help them apply for federal grants aimed at restoring farm operations damaged by Hurricane Irma.
• The Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission approved new fishing limits for snook and red drum along the Gulf coast to try to help those fisheries recover from red tide.
