  • Fire investigators with the Department of Agriculture said a state-contracted controlled burn got out of control, causing a wildfire that destroyed homes in Eastpoint.
  • The State University System Board of Governors elevated the University of South Florida to preeminent status.
  • The Governor and members of the Cabinet interviewed five finalists for the top job at the Department of Financial Regulation, but decided to postpone making a final choice.
