Capitol Update – Week Ending 12/15/2017

Capitol Update is a weekly review of state government. Topics this week include:

• The Governor and Cabinet learned that Florida’s debt is down, but tax changes in Washington could impact the potential benefits.
• A review of how the clemency process works in Florida and why it can take so long for former inmates to get a decision on restoring their civil rights.
• The Public Service Commission voted to allow Florida Power & Light to use the environmental cost recovery clause to collect fees from customers to remediate saltwater pollution from the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant cooling canals.
