Capitol Update is a daily review of state government during the Legislative Session. Topics today include:

• The Senate bill eliminating Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) at state universities was approved in its first committee stop.
• A House committee approved a bill that would allow juries to recommend the death penalty without a unanimous vote.
• Senate President Kathleen Passidomo told reporters that she does not support the bill that would lower the legal age to buy a long gun in Florida from 21 to 18.
