Florida’s Army National Guard: a cadre of weekend warriors called into action during a natural disaster or in the event of war. That is the traditional role of the Guard, but times – and military traditions – are changing. As the active military is forced to do more with less, the Army National Guard is taking up the slack, turning weekend warriors into full-time soldiers, and separating families, sometimes for months at a time.
