With offices and studio located on the 9th floor of the state Capitol building in Tallahassee, FL, The Florida Channel (TFC) produces programming covering all three branches of state government, and is Florida’s primary source for live, unedited coverage of the Governor and Cabinet, the Legislature, and the Supreme Court.  TFC programming is carried by PBS stations throughout Florida as one of their digital sub-channels and delivered statewide by satellite to other program distributors. Live streaming of as many as (14) simultaneous events and archived content are also available online at


Responsible for scheduling and encoding live streams; monitors live streams for audio and video quality and stream health; troubleshoots and communicates issues with clarity; demonstrates good judgement and attention to detail when editing and categorizing videos, selecting images, choosing tags and publishing encoded content; suggests additions to web tags based on analytics; demonstrates good organization and communication skills to carry out assignments with limited supervision.         

Monitors closed captions on live streams; generates post-production captions for the web archive; reviews live and post-production captions for various aspects of quality, including synchronicity, accuracy, completion and proper placement, and takes notes on observations; assists in improving closed captioning results and ensuring captioning equipment is working properly.               

Uses editorial judgement to choose appropriate content/images/tags/hashtags and write/correct copy for social media posts; monitors social media feeds and responds to followers when appropriate and according to TFC protocol; adapts to changes in social media platforms.               

Reviews web content regularly for consistency; acts as a back-up to the Feeds department by assisting with routing, recording and monitoring when needed; assists with customer support for website, app and OTT users; assists in corresponding with legislative staff in a timely manner about technical issues, programming questions and requests for web system testing; other duties as assigned.             


Associate degree in a related area and a minimum of four (4) years related work experience.

(Note: Vocational/technical training and a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience.)

Must be an independent worker with good organizational and communication skills.

Ability to meet the physical demands of the position to include, but not be limited to, sitting for extended periods, standing, bending, reaching, dexterity, etc.

Ability to work on deadline, remain calm in demanding situations, and work as a team member in close proximity to others; as well as the ability to work overtime, as assigned.

Ability to sustain attention for extended periods of time.

Ability to work a flexible schedule as required of the position.

Experience operating related equipment and software.
