Department
The Florida Channel – located in Tallahassee, FL – produces 24/7, year-round coverage of all three branches of state government. Programming includes gavel-to-gavel coverage of a wide variety of state proceedings, along with a wide variety of documentary and public affairs programs and segments covering issues of interest and importance to all Floridians. The programming is delivered statewide by satellite and is also available on the Internet.
Job Opening Responsibilities
In this role, you will serve as the Front Desk receptionist and provide office/administrative support through a variety of administrative tasks. You will be expected to uphold and exemplify the operating practices and mission of WFSU-TV/The Florida Channel.
The workspace location is the first point of contact for visitors, guests, and staff. Responsibilities will include greeting, and directing visitors to the appropriate area, maintaining a professional environment and decorum at the front desk and entryway, and maintaining the professional appearance of the lobby and adjacent common office area.
Additional responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to providing primary coverage of the front desk during business hours; answering and routing calls; serving as the department’s primary travel representative; maintaining a working knowledge of The Florida Channel and resources; organizing and maintaining departmental paper and electronic records; ensuring accuracy and accessibility of records; preparing, sending and receiving documents, memos, and other correspondence; monitoring, ordering, and distributing office supplies; handling information and data requests; maintaining the confidentiality and protecting operations; invoice and mail handling; conducting research and preparing reports; other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate degree and a minimum of four years of related experience, two of which must be professional front office experience.
(Note: higher education may substitute at an equivalent rate.)
Knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new technology techniques and concepts.
Knowledge of office etiquette, practices, procedures, and operation of office equipment.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to communicate professionally.
Experience working on an independent level while performing a variety of duties that require initiative and sound judgment.
Experience operating a multi-line phone system.
Demonstrated ability to type 35+ wpm.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines effectively in a dynamic environment.
Ability to use discretion when dealing with sensitive issues and handling inquiries.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position to include but not be limited to lifting up to 25 pounds; retrieving from and placing materials on shelving; dexterity; carrying, grasping, reaching, climbing, standing; and sitting for extended periods of time.
A valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain a license upon hire.
