11/12/1998 Florida Crossroads – In Her Hands

Dr. Nancy Smith Fichter–a choreographer, a mentor, an educator, and an inspiration. Through her involvement in the creation and development of the Florida State University’s Department of Dance, she molded the study and performance of dance into an academic discipline. Her groundbreaking efforts have impacted student and dance professionals across the nation. In 1997, FSU honored her during its annual “Evening of Dance” by presenting a retrospective of her works and by renaming the campus’ Dance Theatre as the Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre. Florida Crossroads celebrates the work of Dr. Fichter with footage of this performance and interviews with the performers who put their lives and careers “In Her Hands”.
