Millions of drivers cruise down US Highway One from the Florida mainland to Key West every year. In fact, the overseas highway has become a tourist attraction. Converted from a railway into a highway in the 1930’s, every mile marker tells a story.  As part of our ongoing Florida Crossroads history series called “Florida Remembers”, producer Kirsti Satterstrom travels the scenic highway to get a glimpse of the Keys’ rich history, from the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane to the founding of the Conch Republic. It is all in Florida Remembers: The Florida Keys.
